Camp.

One word, one syllable. A simple word that does not carry much weight to it. Until you use it about Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp, that is.

There are three words that I feel when I think of Camp: love, peace, and spirit.

I was blessed to marry into a family that has been going to camp for generations. Each generation introducing the next to the unbelievable beauty at Camp is an act of love that cannot be understated. To be able to share a place that can, and will, change your life in such good ways is only done through pure love. My daughters now share a deep understanding with family members reminiscing about their time there. That is true love.

Our recent past has been filled with contention, worry, unforeseen challenges, and isolation. Yet all that melts away and reveals a feeling of peace when thinking about Camp. Remembering a walk with friends to Inspiration Point, a moving tribute experienced at Campfire, or laughing late into the night in the Helena cabin will instantly bring a calmness to your heart and mind. The bear hug that embraces your soul settles and centers it without question.

When you are at Camp, you will feel acceptance, you will embrace others with your open heart, everyone is recognized and celebrated for their differences. The spirit of Camp permeates every action and thought you have while there and departs with you when you leave. It accompanies you as you return to your daily life, shining a light infused serenity into the world.

Love, peace, and spirit are all fertilizers of the spiritual growth that Camp provides each person who visits. Continuing to nourish that relationship “On The Shores Where Water Meets The Spirit” will reward you with a union with God that deepens with each visit.

With this in mind, we are excited to announce the formation of the FLUMC Alumni Association. Details are being finalized for a membership campaign to be launched February 1. The Alumni Association will be an active arm of fundraising for FLUMC and providing ongoing communication about the camp and its activities.

Take a moment and reflect on the influence that FLUMC has had in your life. The influence of Camp can continue to flow to others with your support. Donations to Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp will provide opportunities for newer generations to know the love, peace, and spirit that guide your life today.

Blessings to you,
